In the Interactive Media program at Elon University, my cohort and I were given an opportunity to fly to the Dominican Republic to work with Dove Youth Development. For this project, I was the team's Graphic designer.
My cohort and I had morning briefings with the clients to strategize our course of action for each day. We formulated ideas that would help in promoting and advertising their nonprofit program by updating their website, enhancing social media accounts and personally interacting with the program youth to gain more of a perspective in how to better serve their community in the Dominican Republic.
One of the many brochures and pamphlets I created that is now being used by Dove Youth Development. See more of my work below in the Final Marketing Materials segment that was adopted by the team and is currently being used by the nonprofit organization.
In preparation for our study away, I was tasked to develop a logo for our team. The logo I created above is the one agreed upon to best represent our cohort as we traveled to the Dominican Republic.
Excitement as we display my design for our team logo that were printed in order in preparation for our public good project.
We were ensuring that all the equipment traveling with us was in working order. Laptops, Lights, Cameras... All Ready for Action!
Before flying, I made sure that the marketing materials that I wanted to give to the client were esthetically pleasing to the eye.
While in the Dominican Republic, we had opportunities to conduct interviews with the Development faculty and the children to help promote them as a non-profit organization in the local community.
The interaction with the children in the Dominican Republic was priceless. Empowering them to know that they can one day provide the same experience of helping others.
With being in a new country, we definitely took time out to enjoy the sites, food, beach, and other activities that I will never forget.
Bonds were made as we thoroughly enjoyed the interactions we had with the Dominican and Haitian youth. We accomplished all the goals that our team set out to achieve and I will forever embrace the experience of knowing that my profession can truly make a difference locally and nationally.
The overall experience of preparing for, experiencing and being impactful while in the Dominican Republic will forever be cherished by me. I truly developed a chemistry with my team and a bond with my clients. I continue to strive to make a difference and showcase my work in the graphic design field.
